Article Spinning and Syndication

Article spinning, also called content spinning, is touted as a way to reuse articles you have written in the past or reposition PLR articles. In principle article spinning software lets you create multiple paraphrased versions of existing articles in an attempt to defeat search engine duplicate content filters. Article Spinning Software works by switching words with matching synonyms and rewriting phrases, sentences and paragraphs. In addition to this paragraphs are often reordered and titles and headlines altered.  From each article spun hundreds of paraphrased articles can be produced.

Article syndication, also called article marketing, is a time tested SEO tactic and a powerful means of driving increased levels of targeted traffic to the most relevant pages of your website. Article syndication also provides an effective means to raise search engine rankings and identify the author as an expert in their respected field. It also allows you to engage potential customers out-with your main website or blog. As such article syndication is an important part of a well rounded Internet marketing strategy.

Article spinning and syndication sounds like a marriage made in heaven for article marketers. Link building should be simplified especially as some article spinning software comes packaged with automated article submission software. Multiple search engine rankings should be possible and your main site, or the site you are promoting, should easily outrank its competitors. Well that’s what the marketing spiel used to promote article spinners promises, however, rather than a marriage made in heaven article spinning and syndication is more like trying to mix oil and water.

In the hands of a novice, article spinners produce incoherent garbage that’s difficult to read and suffers from high abandonment.  Even when used by an old hand readability is substantially lowered and abandonment is still a problem. Given that you are trying to promote yourself, your business or the products and services it provides, it’s unlikely that dumping low quality content all over the web is hardly going to enhance your reputation at any level.

Search engines are becoming better at spotting spam and a great many spun articles are detected as such. This sends out signals that can only be determined by search engines as an attempt to unfairly game their algorithms. Article spinning has one purpose and that is to generate back links, should anyone read multiple spins they will learn nothing more that if they had read just one. By excluding the interests and needs of the target reader and solely concentrating on gaining links, article spinning falls fairly and squarely into the realm of link spam.

If you are considering using article spinning software stop for a moment, now rather than just think about rankings think about your reputation and that of your company. If you intend to be around long term and grow a successful online business, propping up rankings with link spam is akin to building your business on a bed of sand. The first time search engines put your website under any kind of scrutiny your tactics will become obvious and your rankings will topple fall. Not the greatest long term SEO strategy.
