Having fun with my notebook
I am a man, therefore the first thing I set up after I move in will be the music system. I like to have songs blasting while we’re unpacking. I am also an electronics nerd therefore the subsequent thing I install is the Web connection plus the pc – hey it has to be completed and who knows when I’ll have to Google to locate my nearest pizza restaurant?
On my previous relocation, I had been frustrated to find out that my near-new commercial personal computer wasn’t starting up. The power button came on, however the monitor never came to life there was not any tell-tale sound belonging to the hard drives to exhibit any kind of functionality. I phoned the business 1-800 phone number and was disappointed to hear they wanted to charge me a cost to identify the issue. It had been pretty clear the mainboard had packed it in, but if I just ordered a substitute and that wasn’t it, there wasn’t a refund or swap option without paying their diagnosis charge. The amount of money they quoted me for the mainboard, plus the few day postal service made me consider I could improve with a computer repairs local business.
I bundled the chassis and took it to the small dealer I saw in the general vicinity. The seasoned chap there had plenty of time to speak with me and validated my own diagnosis devoid of reference to a price. He cracked the box, looked inside to ensure the mother board was a standard HPTX type, made a phone call, quoted me a quote about 50 % of the brand-name replacement and told me he’d have the motherboard the following day.
I was right, he called very first thing in the morning and explained the system will be ready by noon.
