Does a home that is backed up to a school affect the value and possible resale?

Jennifer47 asked:

We are looking to purchase a beautiful home on a 10,000 sq ft. lot, but behind it is a horse trail and then the future home of a priate Christian High School. We would be backed to their tennis courts. We love the home, but that is the only thing stopping us. Does living behind a school affect the homes value and possible sale if we eventually want to sale?

    Create a video blog…instantly.

you would need to ask an appraiser in your area about this. It could go either way

Definite impact. Most people want to be near a good school, e.g. within “walking distance.” But they do not want school kids cutting across their yard, listen to kids on the playground, etc. The noise factor is a big negative!

That’s a small lot. If you had a large backyard where you could screen sight & sound of the tennis courts & horse trail with a lot of trees, it could be interesting. But that’s too small a lot. You’d need at least an acre.
