why do statistics only count foreclosures when people are losing homes, when short sales are the same thing?

just me asked:

I feel that the true statistics of people who are actually being displaced from their homes are not being honest as a short sale is a home you are losing.

Because those are the only ones people care about.

Would you watch a new program all about a bunch of happy smiling yuppies buying up cheap homes in Stockton California ? Or a New sotry about Happy Smiling meth-lab brewing rednecks buying up land in Mississippi ? No you know why? because no one really cares until the meth lab blows up or the yuppies lose it all.
